He may be famous for having played a self-driving car in the TV series Knight Rider, but William Daniels, the voice of the autonomous and artificially intelligent KITT, has no interest in getting into a real one, reports The Globe and Mail.
The idea of handing over control to a machine would make the 92-year-old "really nervous", says the article. "I'm too chicken. I wouldn't trust it," said Daniels in a phone call from his Los Angeles home.
But it turns out he's not alone. Another person involved in the original TV show – Harvey Laidman, who directed six episodes – has also apparently expressed his concerns about self-driving cars. "I'm very, very wary of autonomous vehicles," Laidman is reported as saying. "I can't conceive of them being safe."
